Prevention of electronic harassment and discrimination begins with top down leadership and strong policies that are well enforced at all levels throughout the organization. Policies, expectations and consequences need, first of all, to be made known and understood by new employees during orientation. These standards then require frequent reinforcement through training seminars as well as, structurally, having in place fair and timely response measures for violations. Employees should be made well aware that internet and email transactions can be easily tracked in their network and that all electronic communications need to be of a professional nature.
